1. How to Establish Access to the Deceased's e-Boks
In the event of a death, it is possible for you as a relative or lawyer to gain access to the deceased's e-Boks.
If you have lost your spouse, you must submit a request to us to establish access to the deceased's e-Boks and submit a copy of the probate court certificate for the estate. If you want someone else to administer the estate (such as a daughter or son), a probate power of attorney must be submitted to e-Boks (see link to the form below).
If the probate court certificate is granted to multiple individuals, probate powers of attorney must also be submitted. e-Boks only creates one access, so if there are multiple heirs, they must decide among themselves who will have access to the deceased's e-Boks. The other heirs must provide probate powers of attorney to this one person.
If a private probate is conducted in the event of a death, a copy of the private probate court certificate and a request for access to the deceased's e-Boks from the heir's e-Boks must be submitted.
Access can be established, and the relevant documentation can be attached through this form:
Etablering af adgang til e-Boks i forbindelse med dødsfald.
Note! Through the form, you can also unsubscribe from future digital mail from private companies on the deceased's e-Boks, so any future letters will be sent by regular mail. Digital mail from public authorities is automatically unsubscribed on the deceased's e-Boks.
2. How to Create Access for a Person Under Guardianship
If you have been appointed as the guardian for a person, you can gain access to that person's e-Boks.
Note! e-Boks does not create a new e-Boks, which means that access is only established for existing users. The granted access is also limited to read-only access, and as a guardian, you will not be able to subscribe on behalf of your ward.
To gain access, you will need the following documentation:
- Guardianship appointment, which must include your and the person under guardianship's full CPR numbers.
Access can be established, and the necessary documentation can be attached through this form:
Etablering af adgang til e-Boks i forbindelse med værgemål.
3. How to Create Access via an Enduring Power of Attorney
If you have been appointed as an enduring power of attorney for a person, you can gain access to that person's e-Boks when the enduring power of attorney is activated.
Note! The enduring power of attorney is only valid if the person (also known as the principal) becomes ill, has an accident, or faces similar circumstances, rendering them incapable of taking action on their own. The enduring power of attorney is not valid in the event of death. You can learn more about this type of power of attorney here.
To gain access, you will need the following documentation:
- The enduring power of attorney itself.
- Confirmation from the Family Court that the power of attorney has been activated.
Access can be established, and the necessary documentation can be attached through this form: Fremtidsfuldmagt.
